On 12 July 2016 four climbers from Maharashtra Rujuta Shah, Sudhir Khot and youngest climber Tanish Khot aged 13 years successfully climbed Mt. Elbrus under leadership of Everesteer Chetan Ketkar.
They achieved success fighting with all odds. We think that it was a historical expedition. We planed expedition from North Side because it is much harder than South Side. Only handful of climbers have take this rout so, it has not much infrastructure, no cable cars, no snow cats where as all these facilities are on South rout.
Our team reached to Len’z Rock at 15,088 feet on day six, just approx 3,000 feet below the summit. But, mountain didn’t accept their prayer. Weather broke and heavy snowfall stopped their progress. In merely six hours one feet fresh snow covered whole mountain. Team decided to shift to South Rout. Now, the race against the time started. Team acclimatized well on North Rout, the only problem was bad weather and wind.
Finally the prayer accepted, mountain allowed and team reached on summit.
